The department provides individual training for students in musicology and group courses & seminars for all the students of the UNMB, in the fields of music theory, solfeggio, dictation, music history, score reading, pedagogy, psychology, philosophy, didactics, project management, intercultural education, modern languages. The department offers a lot of opportunities for young researchers in the field of music theory and musicology, by organizing different competitions, symposia, concerts, artistic and scientific events, international partnerships, projects. The department coordinates the online musicological journal Musicology Today.
